Police unable to decode Qandeel’s mobile phone: sources

LAHORE: The mobile phone of slain social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch could not be decoded, Geo News learnt on Tuesday.

Sources privy to the matter said that the police have decided to send a letter to a phone company in this regard.

They said that mobile phone data of Qandeel’s two other phones has been recovered.

The team investigating the model’s murder also visited the residence of Qandeel in Karachi’s DHA.

The 26-year-old model was killed in July.

Later, Qandeel’s brother Muhammad Waseem admitted to strangling her to death for the "honour of the family".

Waseem said he gave a 'tablet' to Qandeel to subdue her and then strangled her in their family home over the weekend.

He said he killed his sister due to her social media activities, which included a series of posts with the prominent cleric, Mufti Abdul Qavi.

One video showed Qandeel shaking hands with Qavi as she sat on the arm of a sofa by his side.
