Bus passengers foil terror plot in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Passengers on a bus at Warsak Road foiled a terror plot with their timely detection of a suspected bag which was found to be carrying a bomb.

The bomb weighing 1 kg, after being discovered, was defused by the bomb disposal squad.

Police arrested a suspect in connection with the bomb. They blocked the Jamrud Road near Abdara during the search operation as they stopped and searched passenger buses. Shops on the road were also shut down.

On Thursday, at least eight people were injured when a bomb exploded near a police mobile at Warsak Road in Darmangi area of Peshawar.

At least six Rapid Response Force personnel and one civilian were injured in the attack, according to rescue sources. The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital.
