ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired the meeting of the federal cabinet here on Friday. During the meeting an extension was granted for the stay of Afghan refugees in Pakistan till 17 March 2017.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, speaking on the Afghan refugee crisis, said both countries (Afghanistan and Pakistan) needed to sit together and discuss the issue. 

“No one should harass them. These refugees are our guests.” Their repatriation should be done effectively, he added.

The prime minister also approved the acquisition and payment for Diamer Bhasha Dam during the federal cabinet meeting.

All arrangements should be made for the timely construction of this dam, the prime minister directed.

The prime minister said that the present government is serious about dealing with the energy crisis. “Many hydel power projects are being constructed in the country,” he said.

The World Bank is assisting Pakistan in the construction of the Dasu Dam, he said.

It was also decided at the meeting that as per the Cyber Crime Act 2016, investigations into cyber crimes would be carried out by the FIA. For forensic investigations into cases relating to cyber crimes, a separate department comprising experts would be established, sources said.
