KARACHI: A new traffic plan has been implemented for the city’s main artery Shahrah-e-Faisal with 132 traffic policemen being deployed. The special force will be referred to as Shahrah-e-Faisal Force.

According to DIG Traffic, the policemen will have vehicles, 44 motorcycles and 8 lifters. He added that non functioning vehicles will be immediately removed and no one would be allowed to violate the law.

DIG Traffic further said policemen would work in two shifts and recommended that those disrupting traffic be charged under anti-terrorism laws.

DIG Traffic added that policemen deployed at Shahrah-e-Faisal will have special badges and caps.

Traffic delays on Shahrah-e-Faisal are due to the presence of schools and wedding halls, while no traffic plan had been formulated when high-rise buildings were constructed on the 17 KM long road, DIG Traffic said.
