ISLAMABAD: The murder of five girls in Kohistan after a video surfaced of them dancing and clapping at a wedding outraged the country in 2011. The case has again come under the spotlight before the Supreme Court of Pakistan which has issued notices to the DPO and Khyber Pakhuntkhwa government.

The counsel for the victims in the case informed the court that the girls seen in the video were murdered adding that three of his client’s brothers were also killed. He pleaded that the Supreme Court of Pakistan should reopen the suo moto case.

The two-member apex court bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan remarked during proceedings on Tuesday that the Advocate General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the District Police Officer must shed light on the facts.

The hearing was then adjourned to resume after two weeks.
