Samia Shahid murder case, accused to plead against charges in 10 days

JEHLUM: The murder case of Samia Shahid a Briton of Pakistani lineage was heard by the Additional Sessions Judge in Jehlum and was adjourned till the 7th of October without any headway on Tuesday.

During proceedings on Tuesday the accused were presented before the judge.

According to  sources copies of the charge sheet were delivered to the father Mohammed Shahid and former husband Mohammed Shakeel according to the defence lawyers Mohammed Arif.

The father and former husband are accused of killing the 28-year-old Briton who was allegedly raped prior to her murder.

The defence lawyer says that the two accused must decide by the 7th of October whether they will plead guilty or not.

Earlier last week after appearing at a pre-trial hearing the deceased’s father told journalists denied all charges and told journalists that they will contest the case. It is possible the accused may not plead guilty to the charges.

According to a police investigation the victim Samia Shahid was raped by her former husband adding that the father was involved in what has been described as a ‘premeditated, cold-blooded murder.’

The investigation also pointed that the victim’s mother and sister were also involved in the murder plot and abetted the crime by luring Samia Shahid to Pakistan. It has been demanded that the two be extradited to Pakistan to stand trial.
