Mob tortures mentally challenged man mistaking him for a kidnapper

FAISALABAD: Vigilantes on Monday nabbed a suspected kidnapper in Faisalabad and subjected him to torture, however on Tuesday police confirmed that the individual was not a kidnapper but in fact a mentally challenged person.

Police have registered a case against 13 accused who were involved in the assault and torture of the individual identified as Nadeem.

According to police sources, citizens in Farooqabad nabbed a suspected kidnapper on Monday tied him to an electricity pole, beat and tortured him. Police from the local station reached the scene of the incident and rescued the individual from the violent mob.

After investigations it was confirmed that Nadeem was not a kidnapped but rather was mentally challenged.
