Metropolitan Police arrest four suspected of murdering man in London

Metropolitan Police officials on Wednesday made arrests in connected with the murder of a 33-year-old man who was stabbed on Braintree Road on Sunday. 

According to the Metropolitan Police, detectives investigating the murder arrested three 21-year-old suspects and one man in his early twenties on Wednesday morning who are being held at an East London police station. 

All four were arrested on suspicion of murder of Raja Rashid Ali a resident of Elm Park. 

The Murder

Police officers were summoned to Braintree Road on Sunday evening on reports of a disturbance. Apparently Ali along with two other men were stopped in a vehicle outside a Costcutter on Stansgate Road when they were involved in an altercation with a number of other men traveling in two separate vehicles. Following the incident the suspects fled in the same vehicles. Officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service arrived at the scene to find Ali who had multiple stab wounds. He died shortly after. 

According to local media reports, an eye witness informed police that the vehicles first collided before the altercation that left Raja dead.

Detective Chief Insepctor David Whellams, leading the investigation appealed to members of the public to come forward with any information that may help with the case. 

"This was a very violent incident which was witnessed by a number of people who have already spoken to the police, and I would thank them for that. However, I appeal to anyone else who has information about this incident or the people responsible to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible." Whellams appealed.
