The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) apprehended a vessel along with its crew members in the deep Ormara sea and recovered 1,000 kg of hashish on Sunday.

PMSA officials had received information regarding drug peddlers attempting to smuggle a large quantity of the contraband via sea. Personnel of the agency patrolling the sea had signaled for the boat to stop but the men onboard ignored the signal. However, officials managed to stop the boat after a chase.

During the search 1,000 kg of hashish worth 60 crore rupees was found, DG PMSA Rear Admiral Jamil Akhtar said.

The hashish was being smuggled on two speed boats, one of which was in custody of the agency, he said. No arrests were carried out during the operation, he added.

Further investigation is underway.
