Police nab 20 suspects in Karachi search operation

KARACHI: Police late on Thursday conducted a search operation in Karachi's Baldia Ittehad Town and rounded up 20 suspects, officials said.

The law enforcers conducted house-to-house search in the vicinity after being tipped off of criminals' presence, SP Baldia said. Twenty suspects were apprehended during the search operation, he added.

The arrested suspects were moved to police station for further interrogation.

Karachi, a city of over 20 million, has long being plagued by terrorists and criminals. These miscreants have paralysed the megapolis on occasions in the past that eventually forced the government to launch a full-fledged crackdown in September 2013.

Since then, the city has witnessed a sharp decline in crime. Hundreds of terrorists and criminals have been apprehended, while some eliminated in encounters with the law enforcement.

The law enforcers, however, continue to conduct search operations in different areas to neutralise potent threats to city's peace.

On the other hand, police arrested 35 youngsters from Gizri area for one-wheeling on motorbikes, officials said.

They also confiscated the motorbikes of arrested youths.
