PM contacts parliamentary parties ahead of PTI lockdown

ISLAMABAD: The government has begun contacting political parties to deal with the upcoming Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf rally in the capital, sources told Geo News.

Sources added that the Prime Minister had formed a committee and given them separate tasks.

PTI has announced a rally which would eventually lockdown the capital on November 2.

PTI was originally scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on October 30. 

Earlier, this week in a presser Khan said he had heard from several quarters the government was thinking of a crackdown. “We are ready for whatever means the government takes,” he said.

He said that it was his democratic right to protest peacefully. “If the government will stay peaceful so will we.”

PTI demands that the Prime Minister should come out clean against allegations in the Panama Leaks regarding offshore accounts that his family has been named in.

On Thursday the Supreme Court issued to notices to all parties including the Prime Minister as it heard five petitions regarding the Panama Leaks.

Leaders from PML-N advised PTI to wait till the SC decision before springing into action.
