SUKKUR: Pakistan People's Party leader Khursheed Shah condemned the arrest of Paksitan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers by security forces.

Addressing a press conference at his Sukkur residence on Friday he said that workers of the PPP had been arrested before but they had managed to achieve their objectives.

Speaking about the expected Islamabad Shutdown he said that the courts had earlier in 2014 ordered Imran Khan to not block streets. "The joint opposition had agreed on a plan of action but Imran Khan went ahead with his proposed lockdown."

Over a question about the next army chief he said, "It will be the government's decision to extend the army chief's tenure," adding that the PPP government had also extended the army chief's tenure once.

When asked about his opinion over Imran Khan's remarks over Khursheed Shah calling him "Double Shah', Shah refused to comment over it.

Khursheed Shah added that Lal Haveli is Sheikh Rasheed's residence and no one can make him evacuate it. "I had asked the government representatives to show restrain."

He warned that if the situation gets out of control there will be violence. "I fear that if violence ensues the state will be harmed. We might have to start from zero."
