Villagers in Thar stage protest against private firm

BADIN: Protest by villagers against a private firm at Thar Coal area reached its ninth day on Saturday.

The villagers are protesting against construction of a dam by a firm on 2700 acres of land.

They claim that the firm is forcefully taking away their agricultural land without paying compensation.

The dam will store poisonous underground water which come on the surface during coal mining. The villagers claim this water will increase pollution in the area.
