KARACHI: Sindh Rangers on Sunday denied allegations related to desecration of holy books and places, calling the pictures circulating on social media against reality.

According to Rangers Sindh Spokesman, the pictures on social media by miscreants are aimed at creating hurdles in the operation carried out by Rangers.

The spokesman said that when mosques and other places of worship are searched on tip-offs, the sanctity of holy places is kept under consideration.

The Rangers spokesman appealed to the masses not to pay any heed to the misleading propaganda and cooperate with the paramilitary force.

Any news or activity related to miscreants should be given to nearby check post or Rangers helpline.

In the latest crackdown, LEAs today took into custody Taj Hanif, leader of the banned Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat (ASWJ), sources revealed.

Earlier the authorities apprehended Allama Mirza Yousuf Hussain along with nearly 40 suspects in overnight raids in Karachi, police officials said.

Hussain - a prominent scholar - was taken into custody from Nazimabad area of the metropolis and moved to an undisclosed location for interrogation. Charges against him were not immediately known.
