Metropolitan Police officers have arrested one of the two inmates that escaped from HMP Pentonville on Monday. The inmate Mathew Baker was arrested from an address in Ilford on Wednesday night.

MPS officers from Islington supported by expertise and resources from the Met’s Flying Squad and Homice and Major Crimes Command continue investigations to track the second inmate James Anthony Whitlock who remains at large.

Whitlock, 31, (4.01.85) was on remand having been charged with conspiracy to burgle, namely 19 offences of theft from ATMs at various locations in the south-east of England between December 2015 and August 2016.

The MPS has described Whitlock as a white male of slim build. He has the word 'Tracy' tattooed on his torso. It is not known what clothing he had on when he escaped from the prison.

Police reiterated earlier advice to the public not to approach Whitlock and to call 999 if he is spotted.
