India twice test-fires nuclear-capable Prithvi-II missile

NEW DELHI: India has conducted a twin trial of its indigenously developed nuclear-capable Prithvi-II missile, Indian media outlets reported Tuesday.

The tests were conducted in quick succession by the Indian army on Monday morning, according to Indian media reports.

The surface-to-surface missiles having a strike range of 350 km and capability of carrying 500-1000 kg of warheads were test-fired from a launch complex in Chandipur, Odisa.

'Pakistan too has India in range'

Meanwhile, Pakistan Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Abdul Qadir Baloch responded to the development saying that Pakistan is fully prepared to deal with any misadventure by the neighbouring arch-rival.

"It's not like as if we are sleeping and have no defence preparations....No, we are a match to them," Abdul Qadir said, while speaking to anchorperson Hamid Mir on Geo News program Capital Talk.

"If their (India) missile can reach Pakistan, then ours Shaheen missile also has the neighbouring country in its range."

Qadir said what was aching India was the billion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
