Hamida Khuhro passes away in Karachi

KARACHI: Former education minister for Sindh Dr Hamida Khuhro passed away due to illness, Sunday morning.

Daughter of former chief minister Sindh, Muhammad Ayub Khoro, the renowned educationist served twice as the Sindh education minister.

Khoro received education from Karachi University and then went on to attend the prestigious Cambridge and Oxford universities. She completed her PhD in South Asia History from London University.

She has to her credit two books, and also wrote on the making of modern Sindh. 

She bid farewell to Sindh University, where she served as the head of history department, to join the Sindh National Alliance in 1987. Khoro became a part of Pakistan Muslim League in 1993.

The seasoned politician was an established historian and writer.
