ISLAMABAD: A social studies book has garnered controversy after a senator submitted a letter in the senate drawing attention of authorities over its text.

The Paramount Social Studies Book 5, which according to Senator Sehar Kamran, is being taught in several private schools, has a chapter which calls Azad Kashmir ‘Pakistan-occupied Kashmir’.

The senator in her letter draws attention of the minister for capital administration and development division over the issue of “public concern” which is “highly objectionable and against our national interest”.

The senator told Geo News that after hearing about the book, she went to a bookstore and bought it.
