Snapchat launches new Bitmoji widgets

Snapchat users don’t have to spend any more time sifting through countless chats; the new Bitmoji widgets will be accessible from their home screens.

Users will be able to create personalised avatars for their favourite friends and click them from their iOS or Android home screens.

What is Bitmoji on Snapchat?

Bitmoji lets you create your own customised emoji. Snapchat bought the popular Bitmoji startup Bitstrips last year and integrated the $100 million acquisition by allowing users to customise Bitmoji and send them to other users.

Download the latest version of the Bitmoji app and link it to your Snapchat account. If you and a friend set up Bitmoji in Snapchat, you’ll both see “friendmojis” (stickers). You can share them in a chat or snap.

What are Bitmoji shortcuts?

The Snapchat Widget lets you add a shortcut to a friend on the today screen (iOS) or home screen (Android).

How does the Snapchat Widget work?

Only friends with Bitmoji linked to Snapchat will show up in the Snapchat Widget. On iOS devices, the Snapchat Widget will only display on the today screen, but Android users will be able to place it anywhere they wish on their home screens.

While Facebook is busy with cloning Snapchat Stories, it has paid less attention to self-destructing messages that Snapchat started with.

With new features enabling users to have low-pressure, casual conversations with friends, Snapchat seems to be on the road to success.
