Parents to submit details of tax returns, source of income by March 24

MULTAN: The trend of extravagant and lavish wedding ceremonies has come under the notice of Federal Board of Revenue.

The parents of a bride and groom were issued on Wednesday a notice by the income tax department for spending millions on their children’s wedding. They have been instructed to file the tax details by March 24.

Irfan, a resident of inner city, got married to a deceased wrestler’s daughter last week in an elaborate and extravagant ceremony.

More than 15,000 guests attended the affair and lions were also brought to the event. Moreover, the groom wore 50 tola gold sehra (traditional headdress for grooms).

The girl’s family allegedly gave the groom’s family millions of rupees in dowry as well.

The wedding talk had been making rounds in the city and came into the notice by Regional Commissioner Income Tax Saleem Raza.

The tax returns notice asks the parents to submit details of the source of income and tax returns by March 24.
