KARACHI: Members of a gang involved in kidnapping of newborn babies in Karachi made startling revelations before a local court on Saturday about their wicked practice of buying and selling newborn babies.

Police on Friday busted a gang comprising eleven members - seven males and four females - involved in kidnapping and selling of newborn babies. The development came a day after kidnapping of a one-day-old baby girl from a hospital in Orangi Town.

The law enforcers identified a woman taking the newborn away with the help of hospital's CCTV footage, and arrested her from Orangi Town.

The woman later pointed to whereabouts of the gang in Sohrab Goth, to which she sold the baby.

Police today produced the arrested suspects before a local court in Karachi, where the suspects opened up about the wicked practice of buying and selling newborn babies.

The members of the gang confessed in the court that they used to purchase newborns for Rs15000 each and sell them to childless couples for Rs120000.

The court remanded male members of the gang in police custody and sent female members to jail.
