Father of 36 awaits census registration in Quetta       

QUETTA: Jan Muhammad, a resident of Quetta, who has 36 children from three wives, still awaits the census staff to register his large family.

The census officials still could not reach Jan Muhammad’s home because it would be included in the second phase.

During the last 19 years or after the fifth census conducted in 1998, Jan Muhammad went from being a bachelor to the head of a family of 39 people.

His first marriage was in 1999, and his eldest daughter is now 17 years old.

In all, the qualified medical practitioner and a part-time businessman, has 22 daughters and 14 sons.

After his first marriage, Jan Muhammad over the years married two more women and had 41 children in all, five of whom died at the time of their birth.

In the coming year, two more children are expected to be born, bringing the tally to 38 children.

Jan Muhammad said that his total expenditure on his family is around one lakh rupees. He said that he is spending a happy and content life with his three wives and 36 children.
