LAHORE: The Sindh government wants a domestic accountant for an inspector general of police, said Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Sunday.

He added an IGP like AD Khawaja, who was appointed on merit, could not be dealt with by the Sindh government.

The railways minister said the Sindh government has wreaked havoc in the province. "It is surprising how Zardari [then] criticises us."

Rafique was speaking to the media in Lahore after the inspection of locomotives of 4,000 horsepower that have arrived from the United States.

Moreover, about the railways, he said the previous governments kept on looting and snatching but did not pay attention to the railways.

"[However] we are trying to improve matters," he maintained.

While referring to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak's statements about railways, Rafique said he was upset over what Khattak said.

A few days back Khattak had told the media the KP government did not have any support from the Centre for the train system of Greater Peshawar, which will be part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Khattak had said the federal government and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif cannot see that people of KP.

"[We] will [see to] them in the next general elections."
