SARGODHA: Help has been sought from Federal Bureau of Revenue to search the bank accounts and other assets of the 'faith healer' who along with his accomplices murdered 20 people in Sargodha.

While talking to Geo News, Sargodha District Police Officer Captain (retd) Sohail Chaudhry said a joint investigation team was looking into the murder cases.

On the other hand, condition of one of the four injured women has been stated to be critical as doctors at the district headquarters hospital said her kidneys might fail.

The prime accused of the murders, Abdul Waheed, and his accomplices intoxicated his disciples before torturing them to death a few days back. Waheed in his statement to the police said they were scheming to poison him, which is why he killed them.

The suspect, Abdul Waheed, who was the custodian of Darbar Ali Muhammad Gujjar, a shrine in Chak-95 of Sargodha, used a dagger and sticks to kill his victims, Sargodha Deputy Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta had said.

Two women and as many men managed to escape, in an injured condition, from the shrine.

One of them reported the horrendous crime to locals who then informed the police.

The accused were handed over to the police on remand when they were taken to the court under tight security.

Police had registered the case as no one from the bereaved families had come up to file a complaint. They did not do so as they held Waheed in high regard, despite the murders.
