KARACHI: Eight persons were arrested during raids carried out by Rangers on Wednesday.

He added some of them were street criminals while others belong to different groups, including those of Lyari gang war and Muttahida Qaumi Movement's Askari wing.

To crackdown on the hideouts of anti-social elements and seize their weapons, Rangers frequently carry out raids.

A few weeks ago, weapons were found in a storeroom of Karachi's Safari park, the forces' spokesperson had said.

The raid was conducted on intelligence-based information.

Among the weapons found at the site were anti-aircraft guns, rifles, sub-machine guns, light machine guns, hand grenades and snipers. A large cache of different types of bullets and cartridges were also recovered from the location.

The Rangers spokesperson said the weapons were intended to be used to create unrest in the metropolis.

They personnel had detained the park's guards for interrogation.
