JI to hold more protests against K-Electric in Karachi

KARACHI: The Jamaat-e-Islami announced on Saturday to continue its protest against lack of electricity in the city and released a schedule of protests which will be held across the city.

JI, Karachi, Amir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman announced the schedule for party’s different protests across the city during a press conference at Idara Noor-e-Haq.  

The party will hold protests in different districts of the city, on April 11 a protest will be held in District East, on April 14 in District West, and on April 18 in North Nazimabad. Another protest will be held outside Governor House on Aprill 22, he said.

He also said that about 20 protests will be held in the six districts of the port city.

Naeem-ur-Rehman demanded that Pakistan Peoples Party works towards returning the money K-Electric stole from the people. Moreover, about 7,500 employees fired by the company should also be rehired.

He demanded that the people of the country should be provided electricity, drinking waters and health facilities.

The party had first protested on Shahra-e-Faisal on March 31 but due to violation of Section 144, the protest was called off and Naeem-ur-Rehman was taken into custody by the police.

After his release, he had announced that another protest will be held in front of KE’s head office on April 7, during which the party workers had even brought bulls to represent the inefficiency of the Sindh and federal government and the power supply company.
