RYK police operation exposes timber mafia

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Police recovered a trailer full of chopped and stolen trees during an operation in Sadiqabad on Sunday.

Sheesham trees were chopped down at Shams canal under the cover of an auction of trees, as suspects continued to sell stolen valuable trees.

The trees were stolen from Sadiqabad's Mubarik canal, Fazil canal, Bhong canal, and Khankhwa canal.

A case was registered against members of the timber mafia, police told Geo News.

Employees suspected of involvement in the illegal sale of trees were also suspended, the Department of Forest said.
