SHARJAH: The Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah (PSCS) on Tuesday organized a musical event in Sharjah to honour Pakistani labourers working in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with an aim to encourage the ones working thousands of miles away from home.

The event was attended by a large number of community members and dignitaries, including the Consul General of Pakistan to Dubai, Brigadier (retd) Javed Hassan.

The workers enthralled the audience with their appreciable voice while singing various songs on the stage.

Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah (PSCS) organised the event for the Pakistani labourers under the theme “Year of Giving” in Sharjah.

On the occasion, Brigadier (retd) Hassan said that encouraging Pakistani workers was a noble initiative, adding that they were one of our greatest assets.

The show featured live musical performances by local musical band and gifts for labourers.

Speaking to Geo News, PSCS president Khalid Hussain Chaudhry said the main idea behind organising such events is to realise the mission behind the “Year of Giving 2017,” which was launched by President of United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He lauded the efforts of Pakistani workers, who are backbone of not only the UAE, but Pakistan too for they have been sending huge foreign-exchange to back home.

A free medical camp was also established at the event for labourers.
