42 suspects arrested in police operations in Karachi, Multan

As many as 42 suspects were arrested in search operations in Karachi and Multan on Saturday.

Multan police conducted a search operation in Jamilabad, Fatima Colony and arrested around 38 suspects, including 18 drug peddlers.   

Five suspects were also arrested for illegal possession of weapons while a total of 186 litres of illicit liquor and a large stash of contraband was recovered by the police. 

About 155 houses were searched and biometric verification of 190 people was performed. 

Raids in Karachi

Four suspects were taken into custody late Friday night during search operations in the metropolis’ various areas, the police said.

During a raid in Gulbahar's Baloch Para, a drug peddler, identified as Abdul Shakoor Baloch, was arrested near Anjuman Hall, security officials stated, adding that contraband was recovered from the suspect. 

A case has subsequently been filed against Abdul Shakoor Baloch, police stated.

Anoter suspect, Usman, was detained by police for peddling drugs in an operation conducted near Paposh’s Khilafat Chowk area. Contraband was recovered from the suspect and a case was registered. His accomplice, however, managed to escape.

Two street criminals, Saqib and Ghulam Haidar, were arrested during a search operation in Baldia Town, police said. Weapons, cash, stolen motorcycles, and mobile phones were recovered from their possession. 

Fire doused in Nazimabad 

Moreover, fire erupted in a pad-mounted transformer in Nazimabad No 1, according to the fire department. 

One fire truck was dispatched to the site to douse the fire. The area faced power outage due to the fire, officials said.
