ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan yet again failed on Monday to submit a reply in the contempt of court case against him.
A five-member Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) bench, led by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retired) Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan, was hearing the case.
Imran Khan’s lawyer Shahid Gondal appeared before the bench and remarked that he has been unable to get the PTI chief’s signature on the reply as the leader is out of the city.
Upon this, Justice Raza remarked that the PTI lawyer had asked for more time during the last hearing as well.
A former leader of the PTI, Akbar Babar, had filed a case against the party leader for casting aspersions against the ECP, following which the body issued a notice to Khan.
The case was adjourned till July 4.
Imran Khan’s behaviour towards the cases against him shows that all the allegations leveled against him are correct, remarked the petitioner while speaking to the media outside the ECP on Monday. Babar is among the founding members of PTI but later parted ways after differences with the party leadership.
“PTI is ridiculing the justice [system],” he said.
Commenting on the recent politicians who have joined PTI recently, Babar claimed that the “politicians joining PTI are ‘political trash’.”
“We reject these politicians and the people will reject them on the day of the election too.”
On PTI’s intra-party election, he claimed that less than 10 percent of workers voters showed up to vote. This shows that the PTI workers are dissatisfied with the party. “PTI workers have rejected Imran Khan, he should know this now.”
