LAHORE: Suspended cricketer Khalid Latif and the Pakistan Cricket Board appear to be at loggerheads again in the PSL spot-fixing case.

According to sources privy to the latest development, Latif and his lawyer, Badar Alam, are unhappy with the disciplinary panel formed to investigate objections raised by the cricketer against the composition of the three-man anti-corruption tribunal, formed by the PCB to probe the spot-fixing allegations.

In response to the objections raised by Latif and his lawyer, the PCB had formed a one-man disciplinary panel, with the retired judge Justice Fazal-e-Miran Chohan to start proceedings afresh on June 22 (today).

Latif had argued that each member of the tribunal had, at one point in the past, been on the payroll of the PCB, which raised questions about their independence from the board.

However, now that the disciplinary panel is all set to begin proceedings against these objections, Latif’s lawyer claims that he and his client were not officially notified in a timely manner and therefore, they have not had sufficient time to prepare their case.
