ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan on Tuesday lashed out at Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for choosing to only visit Bahawalpur [after Sunday's oil tanker fire tragedy] despite back-to-back terror attacks in Quetta and Parachinar earlier.

In a tweet, he remarked “unfortunate [that] PM only chose to visit Bahawalpur.”

“Our people are in mourning in Quetta [and] Parachinar also. Is NS [Nawaz Sharif] not PM of Balochistan [and] FATA?” he remarked.

He added, “By not visiting Balochistan [and] FATA, the PM is exacerbating feelings of provincial discrimination.”

On Monday, Nawaz Sharif, along with Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, visited Bahawalpur and ordered an inquiry into the Bahawalpur oil tanker fire which resulted in the death of at least 150 people and left over 100 injured on Sunday.

He also declared that the government has made a policy decision to provide jobs to the injured as well as family members of the deceased.

The premier had gone to Saudi Arabia and London on a private visit when the incident occurred.

He cut short his trip after the tragic fire incident and returned to Pakistan on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the premier is yet to address protesters in Parachinar who have been holding a sit-in against 'government apathy' following Friday's deadly twin blasts which killed at least 72 people.
