KAMOKE: A petrol shop here on Kasoki Road caught fire late Monday night, claiming the life of a policeman and injuring three others, rescue officials said.

The fire erupted when oil shipment was being offloaded from a tanker near the shop and flames in an electric motor spun out of control, turning into a blaze, rescue officers explained.

As the firefighters doused the flames for almost an hour, Assistant Superintendent (ASI) Javed Iqbal – who was attempting to evacuate people – passed out due to smoke inhalation. He lost his battle for life on way to the hospital, rescue officers added.

On the other hand, the wounded – including owners Zeeshan and Jibran Ibad and employee Waqar – were shifted to a nearby hospital, rescue officials stated.
