LAHORE: The body of a young boy working as domestic help was recovered from a provincial lawmaker's house late Tuesday night.

The body of Akhtar, 16, was found in the home of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MPA Shahjehan in the city's Akbari Mandi area.

Officials investigating the case said that the boy's body was discovered inside a sack.

In addition, the boy's sister – Atia – was also discovered in an injured state, allegedly bearing torture marks, police informed.

A murder case – on the complaint of the victim's father – has been registered at the Akbari Gate Police Station against Shahjehan's daughter, Fauzia. However, the house has been locked, with no trace of the MPA and her daughter.

The victim's sister, Atia, on the other hand, has been released from the hospital after medical treatment, police stated.

Akhtar's body, after a post-mortem, has been handed over back to the family which will hold the funeral in their native town of Okara.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident and summoned a report from the Lahore capital city police officer.

Shahjehan, a widow and mother of five, was appointed to the Punjab Assembly on a reserved seat for women (307-W) after the 2013 General Elections.

Later in the day, the accused, Fauzia, managed to obtain protective bail from a sessions court in Lahore before the police could arrest her.
