Policeman shot dead in Rawalpindi

Constable Mohammad Siddiq was martyred en route to his quarter after completing his duty

RAWALPINDI: A policeman was shot dead in a targeted attack by unidentified assailants within the limits of the Airport police jurisdiction in Rawalpindi.

Police officials said the martyred policeman, identified as constable Mohammad Siddiq, was returning back to his quarter after his duty finished when unidentified attackers opened fire.

The constable received seven bullet wounds and died on the spot, officials informed. His body has been transported to a hospital for post-mortem. Police said the deceased was a native of Shakargarh, Punjab.

Further investigations are under way.
