Condemnations pour in over Lahore blast

LAHORE: The top civilian and military leadership has denounced the suicide blast in Lahore and extended their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved relatives.

The suspected suicide attack on Lahore's Ferozepur Road resulted in martyrdom of at least 26 people on Monday afternoon, according DCO Lahore Sameer Ahmed. The martyrs also included nine policemen.

The explosion left 57 other people injured, out of which, 11 were said to be in precarious condition.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the blast. He directed authorities to provide all possible medical assistance to wounded of the suicide attack.

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed grief over the incident and said that he was equally grieved over the loss as that of victims' families.

CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Home Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti, Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah, Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai and former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani were also among the ones denouncing the cowardly act.

They extended condolences to the families of martyrs and prayed for speedy recovery of injured people.

PTI chairman Imran Khan condemned the cowardly attack in Lahore. He prayed for the victims' families and injured of the incident.

Maryam Nawaz expressed sorrow over the heart-wrenching incident and prayed to Allah Almighty to protect Pakistan.
