ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Spokesman Fawad Chaudhry said on Thursday that Hanif Abbasi’s counsel is unaware of what they want from the Supreme Court.

“They’re using half-truths and half-lies to proceed with the case. The country knows these cases are just to blackmail the PTI,” said Chaudhry, while addressing the media outside the Supreme Court on Thursday.

The PTI spokesman was referring to the hearing of Abbasi’s petition against PTI leader Jahangir Tareen.

“We will pursue a criminal case against Abbasi if he doesn’t apologise to Tareen,” claimed Chaudhry, adding that they will not go for a stringent sentence if he apologises.

“The entire country is at a standstill. We don’t want to come out on the streets as we are telling people to wait for the verdict. We wish to solve all the issues within the limits of the law,” shared Chaudhry.

He requested the Supreme Court to announce a verdict [in the Panama Papers case] soon so things can proceed further.

Abbasi, a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader, has taken Tareen and PTI Chairman Imran Khan to court seeking their disqualification for ‘not declaring their assets’.
