KARACHI: Indian captain Virat Kohli has donated his signed cricket bat to former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi for his foundation Shahid Afridi Foundation.

“Thank you @imVkohli for your kind gesture in support of @SAFoundationN. Friends & supporters like you ensure #HopeNotOut for everyone,” Afridi tweeted with a photograph of Kohli’s signed bat.

Kohli was quick to reply and wished Afridi the best for his foundation.

“You're most welcome Shahid Bhai. Wishing you and the @SAFoundationN all the luck for the upcoming events. #HopeNotOut,” tweeted the Indian skipper quoting Shahid Afridi’s tweet.

Afridi, speaking to Geo News, said that Kohli’s gesture is a great sign for humanity.

“We must encourage good things, regardless of who is doing it,” said Afridi.

“Kohli is a legend and he has always been very supportive and I am very thankful to him for his support,” he added.

Afridi confirmed that Kohli’s bat will be auctioned for his Thar hospital project and the auction will take place in Newcastle, England.

A signed jersey of Virat Kohli was also auctioned on Monday by the Shahid Afridi Foundation.

According to reports, the winning bid for the jersey was 4,300 euros.

“People in Pakistan want to watch Kohli in Pakistan. I have played a lot in India and can never forget the respect people gave me there,” Afridi continued.

“We are not politicians and have nothing to do with politics, we are ambassadors and we must continue to give a good message,” he added.
