Suspect sentenced to death in Wali Khan Babar case also in custody: Rangers spokesman
KARACHI: Rangers spokesman Colonel Tahir said on Wednesday that amongst the people taken into custody during the raid today is Faisal alias Faisal Mota, who was sentenced to death in the murder case of Geo television journalist Wali Khan Babar.

In a targeted operation early Wednesday morning, Rangers forces carried out a raid at Nine-Zero, the headquarters of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in Karachi, as well as the party’s public secretariat in Khursheed Begum Memorial Hall, Azizabad.






On March 1, 2014, An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Kandhkot announced sentences in Wali Khan Babar's murder case, awarding death penalty to two and life imprisonment to four accused.

Wali Khan Babar was gunned down in Liaquatabad area of Karachi on January 13, 2011 when he was returning home from office.

Proclaimed offenders Kamran alias Zeeshan and Faisal Mota were sentenced to death.

Colonel Tahir went on to say that amongst the suspects in custody who already have FIRs against them are; Farhan Shabbir alias Mullah, Aamir, Nadir, and Obaid alias K2.
