Flag hoisting ceremony held in Berlin to mark Independence Day

BERLIN: A flag hoisting ceremony was organised at the Embassy of Pakistan in Berlin to mark the 71st Independence Day of Pakistan, attended by the colourful Pakistani Diaspora in the city.

Men, women and children participated in the ceremony in which the Pakistani flag was hoisted in front of the Chancery building while participants recited the national anthem.

Ambassador of Pakistan to Germany Jauhar Saleem read out the messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan to the audience, in which they sent greetings for Pakistanis living in Germany.

In his speech, the ambassador shed light on the independence movement of Pakistan and the sacrifices rendered for this cause. He underscored the need for the same unity and determination for the development of the country. Speaking with Geo.tv Saleem stressed that "Pakistan is passing through an important juncture of time and the nation’s unity is of utmost importance keeping in view the external and internal threats of terrorism and aggression."

On this special occasion of the 70th anniversary of Pakistan, a series of feasting events will be arranged in Berlin by the embassy such as Qawwali concert, Mango Festival. The Azadi Parade was also held at the historic Brandenburg Gate last week.
