MQM-P leader Abdul Rashid Godil to quit active politics

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Abdul Rashid Godil has decided to "maintain distance" from politics and will not contest next elections owing to security concerns.

According to sources, Godil has decided to quit politics after family pressure.

Godil was shot in the Bahadurabad area of the city in 2015.

He was shot six times in the chest, jaw and neck. The MQM leader underwent surgery and was placed on a ventilator.

Godil’s wife was in the car at the time of the attack but remained unhurt, while his driver who was injured in the attack succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
