Nawaz Sharif chairs consultative meeting in Lahore

LAHORE: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif chaired on Monday a meeting at Model Town to review theĀ current political situation of the country.

The session was attended by Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Sharif, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, provincial ministers and local administration incharges.

It was brought to light in the meeting to run the system of the municipalities on the basis of integration.

Sharif in his directions said that municipalities are for the welfare of the public and they should toil continuously to bring relief to people.

According to sources, before the meeting, Sharif held a meeting with the CM Punjab.

Recently, the former prime minister held his political journey from the Punjab House, Islamabad along with a huge caravan comprising hundreds of vehicles and thousands of supporters towards his hometown, Lahore. The rally was aimed at showing political power before the general elections in 2018.

The former prime minister on Tuesday filed three petitions in the Supreme Court to review the Panama Papers verdict which resulted in his disqualification.

Sharif had stepped down as the prime minister of Pakistan on July 28 after being disqualified from holding public office by the Supreme Court in a landmark decision in the Panama Papers case.
