FAISALABAD: A fire erupted in a power loom factory in the industrial town of Faisalabad on Sunday, Geo News reported.

Rescue workers said the blaze caused the roof of the factory to collapse and resulted in the destruction of cloth and thread worth millions of rupees.

Rescue officials said they reached the site after being informed of the incident around noon and managed to douse the blaze after an hour and a half with four fire tenders.

The fire is said to have been caused by short-circuiting.

In Karachi, a fire had broken out late Thursday night at a shoe factory in SITE area which was doused after 17 hours.

A few workers in the factory had allegedly set fire to a chemical drum— leading to the blaze—following an altercation with the accounts department over payment of salary, Chief Fire Officer Tehseen Siddiqui claimed.
