KARACHI: Four suspected terrorists, including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan chief Mullah Fazlullah's cousin, Khursheed, were killed in a shootout with police in the city's Sadaf Society locality.

Malir SSP Rao Anwar claimed Khursheed has been involved in various incidents of terrorism, including the attack on education activist Malala Yousafzai and attacks on law enforcement personnel.

He said all the slain terrorists belonged to TTP Swat.

Anwar said police conducted a raid in the area after getting information on the presence of members of banned outfit Ansarul Shariah.

Malir police are conducting raids across the city in search of a suspect who escaped a raid in the city's Kaneez Fatima Society earlier today.

Sarosh Siddiqui

Anwar said they were looking for Abdul Karim Sarosh Siddiqui, a senior commander of Ansarul Shariah. Anwar claimed Siddiqui is the mastermind of the Eid-day assassination attempt on Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan.

At one point, Siddiqui was a student of applied physics at Karachi University, informed sources.

The SSP shared the following number for the public to inform authorities if they see or hear information about the suspect: 0300-2023318.

Police today also claimed to have nabbed at least eight suspects in raids in the posh locality, Defence, as well as Malir and Sohrab Goth after an earlier raid today resulted in the death of a policeman and escape of Siddiqui.

Anwar said they were informed about the presence of terrorists in a house in the neighbourhood after which they raided the area.

"Terrorists fired from the rooftop when police reached the place," he said, adding that a police official was martyred from the terrorists' fire.

Anwar added that the assailants managed to flee from the area.

He had informed earlier that the alleged terrorists were involved in recent attacks on police personnel.

According to the police, the deceased official was identified as Ijaz and the injured as Khalid.

Meanwhile, two bodies were found from Karachi's Ittehad Town area and Shafiq Morr Block 15 late Sunday night, informed rescue sources.
