RAWALPINDI: Commander X Corps Lieutenant General Nadeem Raza visited various sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir where Indian troops targeted innocent civilians Wednesday night.

According to a statement by the army's media wing, the Inter Services Public Relations, Lt Gen Raza said Pakistan's troops shall continue to a give befitting response to the Indian brutality against innocent citizens.

Moreover, Pakistan on Thursday strongly condemned the unprovoked Indian firing along the LoC. Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria regretted that India is deliberately targeting the civilian population.

He said that Indian actions are detrimental to bringing peace in the region.

His statement came after Indian troops resorted to unprovoked firing in Phuklian, Chirikot and Kailer sectors on Wednesday night.

A man was killed in the Indian firing while a woman was critically injured.

The Rawalpindi corps commander also visited the region on Sunday.

During the visit, he reiterated the troops' resolve to respond aggressively and effectively to any Indian miscalculation or misadventure along the border.

Lt Gen Raza, during his visit to the Battal and Dawarandi sectors along the LoC on Sunday, appreciated the high morale of the troops and effective response to protect civilians from Indian forces’ shelling.

Indian forces opened fire in the Tatta Pani and Poona sector of the LoC on August 27, killing three civilians and injuring two others.
