Motorbike thief selling drugs to students in Peshawar arrested

PESHAWAR: Police have arrested a person who would steal motorbikes in the provincial metropolis to trade them for ice in Khyber Agency, which he and his accomplices would then sell to students of universities and colleges.

The station house officer of Tatara told Geo News the accused belonged to a gang of three, who would get 12 to 24 grammes of ice from Khyber Agency in exchange for a motorbike that they would steal from Peshawar. The official added that the accused and his accomplices sold other drugs as well to students in Peshawar’s universities and colleges.

The accused was arrested during an operation in an area, within the jurisdiction of Tatara police station, near Shahkas in Khyber Agency.

In June, a lecturer of Islamia College, Peshawar was arrested on suspicion of selling drugs in the varsity.

According to the police, the lecturer was arrested from Regi Model Town, an area in the city that shares a border with Khyber Agency of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. A total of 20 grammes of ice and 150 grammes of hashish were recovered from the lecturer, police said.

As per the police, action was taken after complaints of drugs being used in the varsity were reported. However, the lecturer was later released on bail.
