Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: UBL joins record books with eight LBWs against PTV

KARACHI: Bowlers from Pakistan’s domestic first-class team UBL entered the record books with a unique record of achieving eight LBW out in an innings, jointly the most in a first-class innings ever.

The record was made during PTV’s second innings in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy’s round five match against UBL, where eight of its batsmen were trapped LBW by UBL bowlers.

Fast bowler Mir Hamza got four players LBW to complete a five-wicket haul in the second innings. Ehsan Adil and Sohail Khan got two batsmen trapped LBW apiece.

This was the first recorded feat of eight LBWs in an innings in first-class history of Pakistan and only the tenth in the world. No team has been able to get more than eight LBW outs in innings till date in the history of first-class cricket.

Before this, seven was the maximum LBWs achieved in an innings in Pakistan’s first-class history, four incidents of seven LBWs in an innings were recorded in Pakistan’s first-class history before this.

The most recent feat, before this, of eight LBWs in an innings was witnessed during Sheffield Shield's match between Western Australia and Victoria in March, earlier this year.

The record for most LBWs in a Test match innings is 7, achieved twice, by England against Zimbabwe in 2003 and Australia against New Zealand in 2005.
