ISLAMABAD/PESHAWAR: Earthquake tremors jolted several parts of the country late Saturday.

Tremors were felt in Islamabad and adjoining areas, parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake was recorded at 5.9 on the Richter Scale.

The earthquake struck at a depth of 38km and its epicentre was Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan, PMD said. 

The tremors were felt in Dir Bala, Lower Dir, South Waziristan.

Reports of jolts in Bajaur Agency, Abbottabad, Mansehra were also received.

Other cities affected by the earthquake include Balakot, Malakand Agency, Chitral, Lahore, Kasur, Parachinar, and Shangla.

No loss of life or property was reported.
