Keys of 26 houses handed over for flood victims
MIANWALI: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on Monday handed over keys of 26 newly constructed housing units among flood-affected people in Daud Khel area of Mianwali district.

Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Administration), PAF Air Marshal Waseem-ud-Din was chief guest of the ceremony, which was also attended by senior PAF Airmen and notables of the area.

Following the successful completion of rescue and relief operations in flood affected areas, PAF had simultaneously launched the housing project in all provinces under its Regional Air Commands on December 5, 2010.

Addressing the participants of handing-over ceremony, the Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Admn) said that PAF was duty-bound to help suffering humanity so it tried to play an effective role for rehabilitation of the flood-affected people.

He said the housing plan was launched under the directives of Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, adding that around 650 houses would be constructed in Mianwali, Jaccobabad, DeraAllah Yar, Charsadda and Risalpur within the period of four months.

He said PAF would build 150 single and double-room houses inthe affected areas of Mianawali, and there distribution would be made keeping in view the size of homeless families.

Waseem-ud-Din said PAF had distributed 9,000 tons of ration indifferent flood affected areas of the country, while 135 vehicles and boats participated in the rescue and relief operations.

"PAF also accommodated 13,000 flood victims in its eight different camps for two months, taking care of there all needs," he added.

Later, he distributed blankets and quilts among the affected people and also inaugurated a Masjid.

District Coordination Officer of Mianwali Tariq Mehmood appreciated the rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts of the air force.

The flood victims, who were highly impressed by PAF relief activities, appreciated its initiative for their rehabilitation, describing them 'Angels' who came down from skies to help the suffering humanity.
