Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) celebrations begin in Karachi

KARACHI: Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) celebrations have begun in Karachi with religious zeal and fervour, while authorities have finalised a comprehensive security plan on the occasion.

More than 23,000 police personnel will be deployed across the megapolis, while 5,000 personnel will perform security duties along the route of main procession in the city.

A procession, organised by Dawat-e-Islami, will be taken out from Kharadar area to Garden, while another procession, led by Maulana Akbar Dars, will march from Memon Masjid Kharadar to Aram Bagh.

Shah Abdul Haq Qadri will lead a procession from Kharadar to Nishter Park.

Police officials and personnel will perform security duties along different routes. Members of bomb disposal squad (BDS) will sweep the routes, while snipers will be positioned on high-rise buildings all along.

Ambulances and fire tenders will be present on central points of every procession.

Meanwhile, the Sindh home department has issued directives to police and district administration to prevent hate speeches. Similar directions were issued to cable-operators in the city warning them against airing controversial speeches.

It has been learnt that authorities have advised concerned individuals to ensure are parking lots are reserved at a safe distance from processions and ceremonies.

Erecting sectarian flags and banners on public buildings is prohibited, whereas authorities have been asked to keep a watch on individuals named in the Fourth Schedule.

Authorities have also imposed a ban on taking along any kind of firearms, warning of stern action in case of any violation.

Suspension of cellular, internet services

Cellular services will be suspended in Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur on Friday, to ensure security on Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

The Government of Sindh had requested the federation for suspending cellular and internet services.

In return, the Ministry of Interior authorised the suspension of services from 8am to 8pm on Friday.

Sindh governor greets Muslim Ummah on Eid Milad un Nabi (PBUH)

Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair has said that Pakistan and the whole world can be made cradle of peace by following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

In his message for the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the Sindh governor congratulated Muslim Ummah on Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

He said there is need to promote religious and sectarian harmony in the country, as Islam teaches love, harmony and brotherhood.

Zubair said, "When there will be peace in our society, nations of the world will themselves understand the message of Islam."

"We should adopt the teachings of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and serve the humanity without any discrimination," he added.

The governor said the day of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) is an occasion of extreme happiness for the whole universe, especially Muslim Ummah.

He expressed his heartiest greetings to all the Muslims on the occasion.
